Somewhat disappointingly Lee Valley asked PwaP to provide both princesses and superheroes this year for their summer event despite our superheroes going down so well last year. However they still wanted us to be at the event in another capacity- circus workshops and walkabout.
Previously we gave them 2x superhero shows and 3x superhero meet and greets so this time we provided 3x circus have a go sessions focusing on hula hoops and tightrope walking plus 2x circus walkabout sessions.
We provided this everyday over the six weeks holidays giving hundreds of children chance to learn some circus skills, some regular pass holders became frequent faces and really improved over the duration.
As always our contract involved staying in a travelodge for 42 days which is more challenging than it sounds, luckily the beautiful Cedars park was 5 mins away for me to clear my head and get some space everyday.
As usual the Lee Valley staff were lovely and I really enjoyed the opportunity to work on my Photography skills making promo for the other performers. We enjoyed some team meal outings, discovering Be Real, morning lattes and of course cuddles with Louise- one of the farm cats!
Hopefully next year we’ll be back as superheroes again because there were lots of complaints about the lack of them this year but either way it’s just a great place to be lucky enough to spend summer!
